Owners of Reno County properties on the tax-sale list have until Wednesday, Oct. 28, to redeem them before the county auctions them at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at Memorial Hall, 101 S. Walnut St., Hutchinson.

The Reno County Sheriff's Office announced the sale on Facebook on Thursday, Oct. 8, and said the posted list is not final because owners can still redeem properties until the deadline.

In July, owners faced a July 31 deadline for unpaid 2025 real estate taxes, but the announcement does not say which tax years put properties on this list.

According to the county's tax-sale flyer, doors open and bidder registration begins at 8 a.m. on sale day. Bidders must not be delinquent on taxes, must have valid identification, and must be present and registered, because the county will not sell property to anyone who is not.

Bidders are held responsible for their bids and must pay in full at the close of the auction, in cash or by a first-party personal check signed by the registered bidder and drawn on a Kansas bank.

The current property list is posted on the Legal Notices and Bids page of Reno County's website, and bidder instructions are available from the county. Questions go to the Reno County Counselor's office at 620-694-2926.

The Sheriff's Office named John Settle and Jubilee Critchfield as contacts at that number for questions after the sale.
