Reno County Farm Tours, Farm-to-Table Dinner Set for August Weekend

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County K-State Research and Extension will host a weekend of farm tours followed by a farm-to-table dinner Aug. 22-24, featuring five local agricultural operations.
The event, presented in partnership with Sandhills Brewing, will take participants on tours of Reno County farms where they can meet producers, learn about farming operations and ask questions while making connections with local growers.
Farm tours are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 22-23, with each producer setting specific hours for their tour. Tour times and locations will be listed on participant passports along with QR codes for directions, according to organizers.
Participants can tour farms at their own pace, with producers offering samples, refreshments and some providing products for sale during the visits.
The weekend will conclude Sunday, Aug. 24, with a farm-to-table dinner at Sandhills Brewing. The dinner, prepared by Chef Daniel Downing, will feature ingredients sourced from the toured farms.
Dinner tickets include two ice cold pints of Sandhills' special seasonal brew made specifically for the event, according to the announcement. Live music will be provided by Mitchell Probst, with guest speakers Amanda Lindahl from K-State University and Jason Probst from Reno County K-State Research and Extension.
Organizers said items from Shop Kansas Farms and other local businesses will be raffled during the dinner event.
Ticket prices are $50 for farm tours and the farm-to-table dinner, or $15 for farm tours only.
Space is limited for the event, and organizers encourage early ticket purchases. Tickets can be purchased through a QR code or online link provided by the extension office.
The event is designed to connect community members with local food producers and highlight the agricultural operations in Reno County.
