Construction continues at YMCA

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Construction is progressing on the new Hutchinson YMCA facility, with concrete work completed for the elevator and gymnastics areas and foundation work underway for two indoor pools.
The Hutchinson YMCA announced Friday that structural steel installation will begin soon on the project being built in partnership with Simpson Construction Services and the Greater Wichita YMCA.
"We've completed concrete work for the elevator and gymnastics pits and are making progress on the foundations and walls for the two indoor pools," the organization said in a social media update that included video of the construction site.
The facility, located at 716 E. 13th Ave., will include the two indoor pools and gymnastics facilities when completed.
The Hutchinson YMCA said the new building represents a partnership with an organization "whose commitment to health, wellness, and community aligns with our own."
"Together, we're building a space that will serve and strengthen lives for years to come," the organization said.
The YMCA describes itself as helping the community "make healthy connections by offering fitness, education, social and relaxation activities for all ages, abilities and interests."
The facility is currently closed during construction. More information is available at ymcawichita.org/locations/hutchinson-ymca.
A timeline for completion was not provided.
