Reno County advances STAR bond district for 620-acre Salt Lick golf resort

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The proposed Salt Lick Golf and Hunting Resort cleared a major procedural hurdle as the Reno County Commission unanimously scheduled a May 13 public hearing to establish a Sales Tax and Revenue, or STAR, bond district for the project.

Planned for the former Cottonwood Hills Golf Club site east of Hutchinson, the 620-acre project would include 45 holes of golf, a clubhouse and up to 200 lodging units, according to commission documents. Developers intend to open the first phase by 2027. If approved, the STAR bond district would capture sales tax revenue generated within its boundaries to help finance the resort's construction.
