Sign up freeRides on Reno County Area Transit (Rcat) are free throughout November, though the service will close on three holidays, Reno County announced Wednesday, Nov. 4.
The county said Rcat is honoring Kansas Mobility Week, veterans and the Month of Giving. According to Kansas Rides, Kansas Mobility Week is a statewide celebration of transportation options, and transit agencies often offer free-ride promotions during it.
Citizen Journal reported that Reno County also offered free transit rides throughout November last year. This year's offer is the first since the county overhauled its fares with a flat-rate system in April 2026.
According to the county's announcement, Rcat will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day; Thursday, Nov. 26, for Thanksgiving; and Friday, Nov. 27, the day after Thanksgiving. Riders who rely on Rcat for work, medical or grocery trips will need other arrangements on those days.
More information about riding Rcat is available on Reno County's Rcat page on the county website.
