Pups Finish Third at Patriot League North Girls Championship

The McPherson Middle School girls wrestling team capped off their season with a 3rd place team finish at the Patriot League North Girls Championship on February 9, 2026, with three individual champions leading the way.

Sophie Racines (15-2) at 110 pounds, Sloan Shober (17-0) at 120 pounds, and Rheamy Rierson (14-0) at 125 pounds all claimed gold medals for the Pups.

Racines reached the championship with a decision win over Kimmy Bina-Claytor before pinning Sophia Ewing of Augusta in 2:30 to take the title. Shober, who finished the season undefeated, won her semifinal by fall before edging Anna Humig of Circle 7-0 in the championship match. Rierson was equally dominant, pinning her way to the title with a fall in just 19 seconds in the championship round over Cambrigh Jones of Circle.

Five Pups earned runner-up finishes. Amanda Lauw (18-2, 90 lbs.) pinned her semifinal opponent in 28 seconds before falling to Truman Smith of Augusta in the final. Peyton File (12-3, 150 lbs.) advanced to the championship with a fall before dropping the title match to Daisy Puentes of Haysville West. Serenity Peery (14-3, 190 lbs.) won by injury default in the semis before falling to Riley Annin of Augusta in the final. Blake Babcock (10-9, 235 lbs.) won her semifinal by decision before falling in the championship. McKaylee Peterson (12-7, 85 lbs.) also placed 2nd in her weight class.

Hattie Krug (6-3, 105 lbs.) and Kennedy Gant (9-7, 130 lbs.) each placed 4th for McPherson.
