Police Department Reminds Residents of Vehicle-Related Fees
Wellington Police Department Offers Vehicle Inspections for Out-of-State Purchases

WELLINGTON, Kan. — The Wellington Kansas Police Department is reminding residents that vehicles purchased with out-of-state titles require inspection before registration, according to a social media post from the department.
The police department conducts vehicle inspections Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at a cost of $20, payable by cash or check only. Credit cards are not accepted.
Vehicle owners must bring the original title and a valid driver's license for the inspection. The department cannot accept copies of titles unless they come directly from a lienholder or county tag office, according to the announcement posted Aug. 7.
The Wellington Police Department cannot conduct inspections on vehicles with salvage or rebuilt titles. Those inspections must be performed by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The department also offers additional services including golf cart inspections for $25 and fingerprinting services. Fingerprinting costs $5 for one card or $7 for multiple cards, with a driver's license required.
Golf cart inspections require proof of insurance and a valid driver's license in addition to the $25 fee.
For more information about vehicle inspections and other services, residents can contact the Wellington Kansas Police Department during regular business hours.
