Town council swears in members for new term

PINEDALE, Wyo. — The Pinedale Town Council recently swore in elected officials for a new term, including Councilmen Scott Kosiba and Dean Loftus, as well as Mayor Matt Murdock for another term. The configuration of the governing body remains stable as the council heads into its summer budget sessions. Town leadership emphasized the importance of community engagement as they begin navigating the financial pressures of rising infrastructure and maintenance costs for the upcoming fiscal year.

Council advances rezone for hospital and cemetery expansion

PINEDALE, Wyo. — The Pinedale Town Council approved the first reading of Ordinance 741, which rezones portions of land near Sublette County Hospital from residential to commercial. The rezone will facilitate future expansion for the Sublette County Hospital District, including potential administrative offices or private clinics, and allow the Upper Green River Cemetery District to construct a storage facility. Addressing neighbor concerns during the meeting, town officials confirmed that an existing irrigation ditch and a buffer of willow trees will be preserved during future development and that a shared parking arrangement will be utilized to limit neighborhood traffic.

Permit approved for downtown locker plant remodel

PINEDALE, Wyo. — A commercial building permit was approved for the extensive remodel of the former locker plant at 618 W. Pine St. Representing the applicant, Casey Fairbanks presented plans to add a second story and convert the roughly 9,000-square-foot building into three distinct retail rental units featuring an Old West-style facade. The approval is contingent upon a final review by the Wyoming State Fire Marshal, and developers hope to have the exterior finished by the end of the fall.

Water and sewer permitted for future Fort Sublette exhibit

PINEDALE, Wyo. — The Sublette County Historical Society received approval for a water and sewer permit, alongside a pipe material waiver, to install infrastructure for its planned "Fort Sublette" exhibit on East Hennick Street. The town waived immediate connection fees because the historical society is utilizing a phased construction approach and will not immediately draw water. Applicable connection fees will be assessed later when a commercial building permit is finalized and the project's specific domestic and fire suppression water demands are established.

Corner lot fence variance sent to planning and zoning

PINEDALE, Wyo. — A citizen's request to replace an existing 6-foot wooden fence with a new 6-foot chain-link and vinyl fence at a corner lot was referred to the Pinedale Planning and Zoning Commission. Town code currently limits fences on the street-facing sides of corner lots to 4 feet, requiring the property owner to formally apply for a variance to maintain the existing height. The council expressed general support for maintaining the historical 6-foot height for privacy but directed the applicant to follow the official variance process before receiving final approval.

Council rejects chip seal bid due to high mobilization costs

PINEDALE, Wyo. — Citing exorbitant contractor mobilization fees, the Pinedale Town Council voted to reject a $251,284 bid for the 2026 chip seal project in a residential neighborhood. Officials noted that the $132,000 mobilization charge — the cost just to bring equipment and crews to the site — constituted more than half of the total project cost. The town will instead reserve the budgeted $200,000 to combine with future road maintenance projects for better cost efficiency.

Annual striping contract awarded with new crosswalk planned

PINEDALE, Wyo. — An $11,200 annual street striping contract was approved for 2026, which will include repainting municipal lines and adding a new pedestrian crosswalk near Sublette County Hospital. Town staff noted the crosswalk will utilize standard paint rather than durable baked thermoplastic due to concerns that thermoplastic materials can become overly slippery for pedestrians at higher vehicle speeds in the 30 mph zone, and suggested a temporary, movable speed bump may be installed to improve safety. The contractor will also adjust parking striping near a downtown bank to accommodate new parallel parking.

Council denies fee waiver for Little League state tournament

PINEDALE, Wyo. — The Pinedale Town Council declined a request from Pinedale Little League President Nick Jaquez to waive $3,600 in field usage fees for the upcoming state tournament this July. While the council expressed strong support for the event, which is expected to bring 20 to 30 teams to the area for the State Seniors Tournament during the already busy Green River Rendezvous week, they cited the heavy burden on taxpayers to maintain the fields. Organizers were encouraged to seek local corporate sponsorships to offset the fees or to apply for Travel and Tourism grants for future tournaments.

New ordinance aims to simplify vendor permits for local events

PINEDALE, Wyo. — On its first reading, the Pinedale Town Council advanced a proposed ordinance that updates the town's regulations on temporary use and vendor permits for local events. The new framework is designed to streamline the application process for businesses and event organizers operating in the community. Council will consider further amendments at future readings before granting final approval.
