Council honors late Councilor David Auge

PAGE, Ariz. — A resolution was unanimously passed honoring the life and legacy of late Councilor David Auge, who died Jan. 10 after a battle with cancer. Auge, a Page resident since 1976, served as a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician before joining the council in 2020. City Manager Frank Marbury noted that the memorial resolution is being formally presented to Auge's family.

Airport expansion paused to consider larger terminal

PAGE, Ariz. — Construction on the Page Municipal Airport's terminal expansion will be temporarily paused as the city considers doubling the planned seating capacity to accommodate 60 passengers. City Manager Frank Marbury reported that airlines bidding on the Essential Air Service contract have expressed interest in utilizing larger aircraft, prompting staff to evaluate the costs of expanding the secure waiting area beyond the initially planned 30 to 37 seats. While the Federal Aviation Administration is funding the current project, it remains unclear if the agency would cover the costs of the additional seating.

Extensive repairs continue on community center bathrooms

PAGE, Ariz. — City Manager Frank Marbury confirmed that extensive work is underway to fix ongoing plumbing issues at the Page Community Center. Contractors are removing concrete and reconfiguring pipes to separate the facility's two bathrooms, which were previously merging at a single junction. Public utility crews are also investigating the city's mainlines to address odor complaints at the aging facility that date back decades.

Water infrastructure upgrades advancing

PAGE, Ariz. — The city is making steady progress on securing federal funding and finalizing plans for a second water intake structure and upgrades to the local water treatment plant. Working alongside various federal agencies, the city's water infrastructure board expects to issue requests for proposals and qualifications for the intake structure's environmental and design services in the coming weeks.

Council delays fee schedule update to add resident discounts

PAGE, Ariz. — A vote to approve the city's consolidated fee schedule was delayed to add an annual Horseshoe Bend pass for local residents. Staff will revise the proposed schedule to include the resident discount, full-facility rental rates for the Pera Club building and out-of-scope repair fees for Page Utility Enterprises before bringing the document back for final approval.

City to reconsider merchandise sales at Horseshoe Bend

PAGE, Ariz. — A discussion regarding merchandise sales at Horseshoe Bend will be placed on a future meeting agenda. Whether to allow outside vendors to sell goods at the popular tourist destination or whether the city should maintain exclusive control over merchandise sales as phase three expansions move forward will be debated.

Official defends transparency amid data center backlash

PAGE, Ariz. — Following multiple public comments criticizing the proposed Huntley LLC data center and accusing the city of secrecy, adherence to open meeting laws and state statutes has been defended. Under the negotiated land sale agreement, developer Huntley LLC must secure its own water and power for the project, implementing a closed-loop cooling system to minimize water consumption. Opponents of the data center continue their pushback, citing concerns over water use, power consumption, and potential environmental impacts on the scenic region.
