Haven Senior Breaks Kansas High School Career Hits Record

HAVEN, Kan. — Nash Wray has rewritten the Kansas high school baseball record books, capping his prep career with 155 hits to establish a new state standard for most career base hits.

The Haven High School graduate surpassed the previous Kansas State High School Activities Association record of 140 hits, which had been set earlier this spring by Valley Falls' Hayden Kearney. Wray's achievement came during his fourth season as the Wildcats' starting shortstop.

"It's crazy to think about, but my coaches, my dad, and everyone around me helped me to accomplish what I got done," said Wray, a left-handed hitter who earned unanimous first-team All-Central Kansas League honors and first-team all-state recognition in Class 3A.

The versatile athlete credits his multi-sport participation for developing his baseball skills. Wray served as Haven's quarterback in football and point guard in basketball, experiences he believes enhanced his overall athletic ability and mental toughness.

Wray will continue his baseball career at Hutchinson Community College under head coach Brock Nehls. He's currently preparing for the transition by playing summer ball with the Kingman Islanders in the Jayhawk Collegiate League, where he's adjusting to facing college-level pitching.

His younger brother Brogan also enjoyed a standout sophomore season, earning first-team All-Central Kansas League honors at third base and honorable mention all-state recognition, suggesting the Wray family's baseball success will continue for years to come.
