Hutchinson Woman Injured in Stafford County Vehicle Crash

STAFFORD COUNTY, Kan. — A 38-year-old Hutchinson woman was hospitalized Wednesday evening after her vehicle collided with a pickup truck at a rural intersection.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported Brittany L. Hayden was driving a 2006 Mazda 3 westbound on NE 40th Street just before 7:30 p.m. when she failed to yield to a southbound 2016 Chevrolet Silverado at NE 120th Avenue.
The Silverado was driven by Willem A. Vanderwalt, 42, of St. John. Emergency medical services transported Hayden to Stafford County Hospital following the collision.
Vanderwalt and a 10-year-old passenger in the Mazda were not injured in the crash. According to the Highway Patrol, the occupants of the Mazda were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kansas Highway Patrol
