HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The city of Hutchinson Utility Department will temporarily shut off water service to about 30 businesses and several residences near the intersection of 30th Avenue and Plum Street starting at midnight Thursday, June 25.

The overnight shutdown is part of an ongoing effort to replace aging water valves and maintain the city's water distribution system. Crews have already begun excavating the site, which may cause temporary lane reductions for motorists in the area. Water service will remain unaffected until the midnight operation begins.

Utility staff have been distributing informational door hangers to affected properties ahead of the outage. City officials confirmed that residents and businesses will not need to boil water or discard ice once service is restored. Residents with questions can contact Water Maintenance Supervisor Matt Perdue at 620-694-1900.
