Nominees for Teacher of the Year announced

Sowmya Sugumaran is a third grade teacher at Northview Elementary in Manhattan, Kansas. She graduated from Kansas State University in 2018 with a Master of Arts in Teaching. Prior to this role, she worked as a para-educator at Northview Elementary.
Clancey Livingston, the faculty sponsor for Environmental Science Investigations club at Manhattan High School.
"Congratulations to Sowmya Sugumaran and Clancy Livingston on being named the USD 383 Kansas Teacher of the Year Nominees," said a post on social media from the district. "We are very lucky to have you on the USD 383 team!"
The Kansas Teacher of the Year program, sponsored by the Kansas State Department of Education, identifies, recognizes and utilizes representatives of excellent teaching in the elementary and secondary classrooms of the state. Each school district may nominate one elementary classroom teacher and one secondary classroom teacher for Kansas Teacher of the Year.
