NEWTON, Kan. — Several residential streets in Newton will close for eight to 10 hours June 30 and July 1 as city crews apply a new slurry seal surface, according to the city of Newton. Work begins at 7 a.m. each day on designated sections of Holly, Heather, Larkspur, Brookside, Ash and Southwest Fifth streets. Affected residents will receive a front-door notice one business day before their road is closed. Residents must keep all vehicle and pedestrian traffic off the new surface until it reopens. Vehicles left on the street before the closure may be towed at the owner's expense.
