Neighbors Cafe changes hands as new owners take over downtown staple

MCPHERSON — Neighbors Cafe, a beloved community staple in downtown McPherson, is officially changing ownership, but the doors at 204 S. Main St. will remain open. Natasha McNett, who purchased the diner in February 2021, announced she is passing the business on to new owners Kristen and Gregg Barrow. McNett characterized her tenure as an exhausting yet rewarding adventure, emphasizing that the restaurant's survival and success were driven by the McPherson community's unwavering support of a small business during uncertain times.

Originally opened in 1997 by Shelly and Cameron Wiggins, the cafe has long been celebrated for its classic American fare, giant cinnamon rolls and welcoming atmosphere. McNett, a former employee who took over from the Wiggins family, credited her hardworking staff and loyal customers for keeping the bustling diner afloat through busy early-morning rushes and random disasters. As she officially steps away from the kitchen, McNett said she trusts the Barrows wholeheartedly to preserve the warm friendships, hometown banter and culinary traditions that have made the local eatery a cornerstone of the city.
