National Weather Service to Present Free Severe Weather Safety Program in Cowley County

WINFIELD, Kan. — The National Weather Service will host a free public presentation on severe weather safety Tuesday evening at Cowley Cinema 8 in Winfield.

The event, Storm Fury on the Plains 2026, is organized by Cowley County Emergency Management and is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.

The presentation will cover severe weather safety, emergency preparedness and how residents can stay informed during threatening weather conditions. Kansas storm season brings unpredictable and potentially dangerous weather, and emergency management officials are encouraging the public to attend.

The event builds on a previous Storm Fury on the Plains program that drew a strong turnout. Cowley County Emergency Management said it hopes to expand on that momentum with this year's presentation.

No registration was listed as required. Residents are encouraged to arrive at Cowley Cinema 8 by 6:30 p.m.
