NASCAR legend Ken Schrader to headline Hutchinson cancer fundraiser
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — NASCAR living legend Ken Schrader will appear at a fundraising event for the Cancer Council of Reno County on Saturday, offering fans a chance to meet the veteran driver while supporting a local cause.
The Salt City 100 Race-Day Pre-Party will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 25 Steak & Social, 25 E. 30th St. The event will feature pulled pork sandwiches with a $5 suggested donation, with all proceeds benefiting the Cancer Council of Reno County.
Schrader, who has competed in NASCAR's top series for decades, will be available for meet-and-greet opportunities with attendees. The event is being held in conjunction with racing activities at what organizers call "Hutchinson's newest hot-spot."
The Cancer Council of Reno County, located at 713 W. 4th Ave., provides support services for cancer patients and their families in the area. The organization can be reached at (620) 665-5555 or through their website at cancercouncilrenocounty.org.
The open house format allows attendees to drop by anytime during the two-hour window. Organizers noted that no alcohol will be available at the event.
