Boys finish third, girls take fourth at league cross country meet; regional competition next

Muehler Captures League Championship as Bullpups Earn Five All-League Honors

The McPherson cross country teams turned in strong performances at the league meet, earning five all-league honors led by boys league champion Caleb Muehler.

Muehler dominated the boys race, crossing the finish line in 16:18 to claim the individual league title. Kayden Friesen (9th, 18:02) and Tripp Pelzel (11th, 18:05) also earned league medalist honors as the Bullpups finished third as a team. Nathan Friesen placed 21st (19:07), Jonas Emery finished 28th (19:39), Isaiah Ortiz took 30th (19:53), and Drake Timson placed 34th (20:53) to round out the varsity boys squad.

The girls team placed fourth overall with two league medalists. Reesa Whorton led the way with a 10th-place finish in 21:40, while Adeline Kramer earned all-league honors with a 14th-place time of 22:29. Eliza Jex placed 17th (22:53), Molly Owen finished 25th (24:25), and Lindley Jex took 30th (27:51).

In boys JV competition, Tyler Ek led McPherson with an eighth-place finish in 22:23. Charlie Unruh placed ninth (22:49), Maxton Nelson finished 10th (22:53), John Conard took 15th (23:55), Miles Bauer placed 16th (24:00), and Jonah Foster finished 21st (25:17).

"Both teams have been putting together solid practices, which we look to build on as we compete at Regionals next week," Coach Rempe said.
