The Moundridge volleyball team enters the 2025 season with championship aspirations after posting a 30-11 record and 9-2 league mark last fall. With nearly the entire roster returning, head coach Bryan Otte's squad looks poised for another successful campaign.

"We only lost one senior from last year's team," said Otte, who is in his second year back at the helm of the Wildcats program. The minimal roster turnover means Moundridge returns a battle-tested core led by first-team all-league selections Cammi Unruh and Hattie Hecox.

Unruh, a senior outside hitter, dominated on both sides of the net last season, leading the team with 308 kills, 58 aces, and 359 assists. Her versatility and all-around excellence make her one of the top players in the area. Junior Hattie Hecox provides a powerful presence at outside hitter and middle blocker, contributing 223 kills in 2024 while earning first-team all-league honors.

The Wildcats' attack also features senior right-side hitter Macy Kaminkow, an honorable mention all-league selection who recorded 175 kills last season. Senior libero Addysen Patrick anchors the defense after tallying 337 digs in 2024, while junior setter Halle Hecox orchestrates the offense.

Depth should be a strength for Moundridge with several experienced players ready to contribute. Sophomore Harper Rierson (OH/RS), junior Aspyn Stos (MH/RS), and sophomore Mackie Conkling (MH) provide options at the net. Juniors Brie Moddelmog and Izzy Durst offer versatility as utility players who can fill multiple roles.

Assistant coaches Lindsey Begnoche and Britney Stos round out a coaching staff focused on building upon last year's success. The Wildcats open their season August 29 at the Eureka Jamboree before their home opener September 2 against Bennington.

The schedule features several challenging tournaments, including stops at Inman (Sept. 6), Goessel (Sept. 13), Marion (Sept. 20), and Belle Plaine (Oct. 4). Key league matchups include home contests against Ell-Saline (Sept. 16), Sterling (Oct. 9), and a road test at Hutchinson Trinity (Oct. 14).

With experienced leadership, proven production, and minimal roster turnover, Moundridge appears well-positioned to compete for league and regional titles. The Wildcats will aim to peak when it matters most, with regionals scheduled for October 20, sub-state on October 25, and the state tournament beginning October 31.
