Moundridge Volleyball Finishes Runner-Up at Marion Spikefest Tournament

Moundridge High School's volleyball team continued their outstanding season with a runner-up finish at the Marion Spikefest on Saturday, defeating four opponents before falling to Halstead in the championship match. The Wildcats rolled through pool play and bracket competition with victories over Lyons, Douglass, Berean, and Central Christian Academy before meeting their match against Halstead, who defeated Moundridge in three sets to claim the tournament title. The strong tournament performance improved the Wildcats' record to an impressive 20-1 on the season.

The tournament showcased the balanced attack and defensive prowess that has made Moundridge one of the state's top teams this season. Offensively, Cammi Unruh led the way with 39 kills at a .318 hitting percentage, while Hattie Hecox added 36 kills at an impressive .365 clip and contributed a team-high 50 digs. Setter Halle Hecox orchestrated the offense with 44 assists while leading the service attack with 10 aces, and the defensive effort was anchored by Aspyn Stos' nine blocks and Addy Patrick's 23 digs. The Wildcats will look to maintain their momentum when they travel to Marion on Tuesday for matches against Marion and Berean.
