HUTCHINSON — Moundridge native Lexi Bretz has been named a 2026 Distinguished Dragon of Excellence, capping off an active tenure of leadership and student engagement at Hutchinson Community College.

A marketing student, Bretz was recognized for her campus presence, serving as a resident assistant, an admissions ambassador, a marketing apprentice and a worker in the Student Success Center. Her nominator described Bretz as a "powerhouse of productivity and positivity who has brought an unmistakable energy to the Hutchinson Community College campus for the past two years."

In addition to her extensive extracurricular involvement, Bretz was repeatedly named to the Vice President's Honor Roll for her academic achievements. Looking back on her favorite memories from the college's homecoming activities, she also credited mathematics professor Terri McQueen — Hutchinson Community College's 2023-24 Dragon Educator of the Year — for proving that subjects which were difficult in high school do not have to remain a struggle in college.

"I am blessed God chose HutchCC to be my college for the last 2 years, but I'll forever be a dragon," Bretz said.
