Moundridge Cruises Past Sacred Heart to Advance to Trojan Classic Finals
Wildcats improve to 12-1; will face Hesston Monday for tournament title
The Moundridge Wildcats continued their dominant season with a 64-41 victory over Sacred Heart in the second round of the Trojan Classic, improving to 12-1 on the year.
Moundridge controlled the game from start to finish, leading 14-7 after the first quarter and 33-14 at halftime. The Wildcats kept their foot on the gas in the second half, outscoring Sacred Heart 31-27 over the final two periods.
Lutz led the way for Moundridge with 19 points, including five three-pointers. Shahan added 16 points with eight made field goals, while Burge chipped in 10 points.
Kanitz contributed 6 points and Churchill added 7 as the Wildcats got balanced production throughout the lineup. Schmidt rounded out the scoring with 6 points, including a pair of threes.
The Wildcats will now face Hesston on Monday in the Trojan Classic finals as they look to add another tournament championship to their impressive season.
