Moran Celebrates HCC Nursing Expansion, Visits Historic Anchor Inn
Senator secured $3 million for Davis Hall renovation
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Sen. Jerry Moran was in Hutchinson last Tuesday to celebrate the renovation of Hutchinson Community College's Davis Hall, which expanded the college's nursing program. Moran, a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, secured $3 million in federal support in fiscal year 2023 for the project. The upgrades are intended to strengthen HCC's capacity to train students for in-demand healthcare careers. HCC President Dr. Tricia Paramore, Allied Health Department Chairs Alison Casebolt and Katie Wilkerson, Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce President Debra Teufel, state Rep. Kyler Sweely and members of the HCC Board of Trustees attended.
While in Hutchinson, Moran stopped for lunch at Anchor Inn, a restaurant founded in 1977 by Rachel and Tony Flores. Tony Flores died nearly a year ago. Rachel Flores and four generations of the Flores family continue to operate the restaurant.
