MMS Wrestling Sweeps Dual Meets
Bullpups Defeat Both Clearwater and Circle at Home
McPherson Middle School's wrestling team posted a pair of victories in dual meet action Tuesday night, defeating Clearwater 66-28 before holding off Circle 47-44 in a closer second dual.
McPherson 66, Clearwater 28
The Bullpups dominated their opening dual with 12 victories across multiple weight classes. Four McPherson wrestlers earned pins in under a minute, led by Gavin Williams (127) at 25 seconds, Towns DeLaney (141) at 47 seconds, Tatem Schulz (120) at 51 seconds, and Mark Montgomery (110) at 3:09.
Other McPherson winners included Kaiden Brown (80), Eli Brown (90), Trace Dearing (100), Dalton VanEaton (115), Gavin Montagne (134), Brendyn Nestor (155), Jordan Reno (165) and Diego Ibarra (180).
McPherson 47, Circle 44
The Bullpups held on for a narrow three-point victory in the nightcap against Circle. McPherson won nine matches to Circle's eight in the tight contest.
Kaiden Brown (80), Eli Brown (90), Trace Dearing (100), Mark Montgomery (110), Dalton VanEaton (115), Tatem Schulz (120), Gavin Williams (127), Gavin Montagne (134) and Towns DeLaney (141) all posted wins for the Bullpups. Montgomery (3:09), Schulz (51 seconds), Williams (25 seconds) and DeLaney (47 seconds) each earned pins.
JV Results
Several JV wrestlers posted perfect 2-0 records on the evening. Eddie Koehn, Fabian Banuelos-Moreno, Jaymes Cordell and Bentley Pfeiff each won both of their matches, while Kydon Matteson finished 1-1.
