Four Individual Champions Lead Bullpups to Second-Place Team Finish

MMS Wrestlers Claim Runner-Up at Patriot League North Championship

McPherson Middle School's wrestling team delivered an impressive performance at the Patriot League North Championship, finishing as team runner-ups behind a quartet of individual champions and strong performances across the lineup.

The Bullpups crowned four league champions, led by standout performances from Trace Dearing (100 lbs.), Mark Montgomery (110 lbs.), Dalton VanEaton (115 lbs.), and Gavin Williams (127 lbs.). All four wrestlers completed dominant tournament runs, combining for 82 team points.

Dearing improved to 16-1 on the season, capping his tournament with a 5-0 decision victory in the finals. Montgomery (15-1) controlled his championship match with an 11-2 major decision, while VanEaton (16-2) cruised to a 13-0 major decision in his title bout. Williams (16-1) punctuated his championship run with a fall at 2:20 in the finals.

The Bullpups also placed five wrestlers as league runners-up. Kaiden Brown (80 lbs., 14-5), Eli Brown (90 lbs., 15-2), Tatem Schulz (120 lbs., 12-3), Gavin Montagne (134 lbs., 9-3), and Towns DeLaney (141 lbs., 14-2) all reached the championship finals.

Third-place finishers included Eli Barnett (105 lbs., 14-6), Easton Gehring (148 lbs., 10-7), and Brendyn Nestor (155 lbs., 8-11), while Caysen Huber (95 lbs., 13-6) added a fourth-place medal.

Also competing for the Bullpups were Jordan Reno (165 lbs., 8-13) and Ronin Pryzmus (180 lbs., 5-8), who gained valuable tournament experience in their weight classes.
