MMS Girls Wrestling Dominates Hoisington Invitational with Four Champions
Bullpups nearly double runner-up's score, claim team title with 188.5 points
The McPherson Middle School girls wrestling team continued its dominant season Saturday at the Hoisington Invitational, capturing the team championship with 188.5 points—more than doubling runner-up Hoxie's total of 82.5. The Bullpups crowned four individual champions while placing nine of their 12 competitors on the podium in the 19-team event.
Sloan Shober (115 pounds), Gracelynn Dewitt (120), Rheamy Rierson (127), and Serenity Peery (215) each claimed gold for McPherson. Rierson and Shober both remain undefeated on the season at 7-0, with Rierson recording three pins in a combined 3:53 and Shober earning three victories including a first-period fall in the championship match. Dewitt ran through her bracket with three consecutive pins, none lasting longer than 1:22, while Peery capped the day by pinning all three of her opponents to finish a perfect 5-0 on the year.
Amanda Lauw (90), Evah Foster (95), Sophie Racines (110), and McKaylee Peterson (85) each earned silver medals, with Lauw's 9-1 record highlighted by four pins and a tech fall on the day. Peyton File battled back through the consolation bracket to claim third at 141 pounds, securing three falls including the bronze-medal match victory.
