MMS A Team Rolls to 10-0 Start
Pavlovich Records Triple-Double in Dominant Week for Eighth-Grade Girls
MCPHERSON — The McPherson Middle School eighth-grade A team girls basketball squad continued its undefeated season with a pair of lopsided victories last week, improving to 10-0 while showcasing balanced scoring and suffocating defense under head coach Matt Sandbo.
December 1 vs. Prairie Hills
The Lady Bulldogs opened the week with a commanding 38-9 victory over Prairie Hills at home. Elles Pavlovich led all scorers with 22 points while adding six rebounds and three assists in the dominant performance.
Kinsley Postier recorded a double-double with seven points and eight rebounds, while Mylee Cooke contributed five points and three steals. Noelle Schmidt and Abby Schieferecke each added two points, with Schieferecke pulling down five rebounds and recording three steals. Myiah Crawford-Dingman added four rebounds and two steals in the winning effort.
The B team fell 20-19 in a close contest, dropping to 3-6 on the season. Mackee Cooke led the scoring with 13 points, while Anna Kahle added four and Brea LeGron chipped in two.
December 4 at Arkansas City
The A team delivered perhaps its most impressive performance of the season Wednesday, crushing Arkansas City 69-6 on the road. The victory was highlighted by a remarkable triple-double from Pavlovich, who recorded 14 points, 14 assists, and 15 steals.
Mylee Cooke paced the scoring attack with 17 points while adding four rebounds and three assists. Noelle Schmidt contributed 13 points and five steals, continuing her strong play. Myiah Crawford-Dingman added nine points and five steals, while Abby Schieferecke matched that output with eight points and five steals of her own.
Kinsley Postier scored six points, and Mackee Cooke rounded out the scoring with two points.
The defensive pressure was relentless throughout, as the Lady Bulldogs forced numerous turnovers and limited Arkansas City to just six points.
The B team dropped a close 28-25 decision to fall to 3-7. Mackee Cooke again led the way with 16 points, while Anna Kahle added seven and Myiah Crawford-Dingman contributed two.
Looking Ahead
The undefeated A team will look to extend its perfect record when it hosts Winfield on Sunday, December 8, before traveling to face Clearwater on Wednesday, December 11.
