Missing Lawrence woman with dementia found safe after citizen tip
Police deployed drones before a 911 caller spotted the 73-year-old looking confused
LAWRENCE, Kan. — A 73-year-old Lawrence woman with dementia was safely returned to her home Monday after an observant resident spotted her looking confused and called 911.
The woman's family contacted Lawrence police at 1:15 p.m. Monday, reporting she had wandered from her residence near 30th Street and Louisiana Avenue about 30 minutes earlier.
The woman is known to frequent Holcom Park and had also been reported seen at a nearby McAlister's Deli. Officers searched the area and deployed drones to assist in the search. A 911 caller located her near 20th Street and Scottsdale Avenue, and an officer drove her safely home at 3:08 p.m.
