Mini Main Street Returns Saturday for Children's Holiday Shopping Experience
Annual Event Gives Kids Chance to Shop Independently for Family Gifts with Help from Elves
Children will have the opportunity to shop independently for family holiday gifts this Saturday at McPherson Main Street's annual Mini Main Street event.
The three-hour event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McPherson Community Building and is designed for students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.
Volunteer "Elved Helpers" will guide young shoppers as they browse and select gifts for family members. All items are priced at $15 or less, and free gift wrapping will be provided to keep purchases a surprise.
In addition to shopping, the event will feature cookies with Santa Claus, photo opportunities, and make-and-take holiday craft stations.
The program has been a McPherson tradition for several years, giving children hands-on experience with budgeting and gift-giving while maintaining the element of surprise for their families.
Volunteers are still needed to help with the event. Those interested can contact McPherson Main Street at 620-241-7430.
The event is open to the public and sponsored in part by a grant from the McPherson Convention and Visitors Bureau.
