Mini-Grants Available for Child Care Providers Across Five-County Region

SUMNER COUNTY, Kan. — The Sumner County Economic Development Commission is accepting applications for Child Care Zone Mini-Grants available to providers across Cowley, Chautauqua, Elk, Montgomery and Sumner counties, with funding designed to support, strengthen and sustain child care programs in the region.

Three types of grants are available. Refresh Grants of $1,000 are available to providers licensed at least one year who serve a minimum of two infants or five children, and may be used for toys, safety upgrades or materials. Startup Grants of $1,000 are available to individuals opening a new child care program and may be used to cover startup costs such as furniture, safety items and professional books. Sub Pool Grants of $500 are available to support substitute providers by covering background checks and CPR training costs.

To apply, providers must attend or register for a Conscious Discipline training, such as the session scheduled May 30 in Wellington, then complete a short application form. Approved applicants will receive a DocuSign agreement electronically, with no printing required.

Funding is limited and available on a first-come basis.
