MHS Boys Tennis Falls One Point Short of Title

MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Red team finished one point behind defending state champion Winfield, 55-54, at the McPherson High School Tennis Meet on Tuesday, powered by a singles title from Cooper Bohme (4-0) and a doubles championship from Mayson Eisenbarth and Jonas Emery (4-0). Freshman Rylan Unruh placed third in singles with a win over a top-10 state medalist, while the doubles team of Kepple Butcher and Jack Boese upset the No. 2 seed from Great Bend en route to a fourth-place finish.

The Bullpups fielded 14 players across two teams, with only one senior on the roster. Derby (42), Hays (28), McPherson White (27), Salina South (24), Great Bend (21) and Newton (18) rounded out the field.
