McPherson's half-cent sales tax generated over $13M for streets in a decade
City officials highlight the ongoing economic impact of the dedicated infrastructure fund
McPHERSON — McPherson's dedicated 0.5% sales tax generated more than $13 million for local infrastructure between 2010 and 2020, funding over 25 major street improvement projects across the city. Officials recently highlighted the decade-long economic impact of the receipts to showcase ongoing community progress and infrastructure investment. The voter-approved half-cent tax has since been renewed to sustain the city's Consolidated Street & Highway Fund through 2030, an initiative designed to fund critical roadway maintenance while drawing an estimated 30% of its revenue from non-resident shoppers rather than relying solely on local property owners.
