McPherson Youth Wrestlers Crown Two State Champions in Busy Weekend

McPherson youth wrestlers spread across multiple tournaments this weekend, bringing home two state championships and a host of top finishes from competitions in Salina and Larned.

Dre Stupka and Mason Barrow led the way at the 6U State Tournament in Salina, each capturing state titles. Barrow dominated the 6U 39-pound boys division while Stupka claimed gold in the 6UG 55-pound girls bracket. At the Tournament of Champions, McPherson wrestlers collected five more first-place finishes as Maverick Copeland (6U 64), Kannon Swaim (8U 49), Airalia Hulvey (10UG 55), Tristan Hicks (10U 100), and Barelyn Hicks (10UG 85) all claimed championships. The Larned Junior Open saw Jax Gerstner win twice at 8U 64-70 and 10U 67B, while Case Aichele (10U 76-79) and Channing Blake (10U 82-85) also took gold.
