McPherson Boys Wrestling Competes at Newton Tournament of Champions

The McPherson High School wrestling team competed at the 63rd Newton Boys Tournament of Champions, with Dylan Hall leading the Bullpups with a fifth-place finish at 215 pounds, scoring 15 team points.

106 pounds: Hulvey (7-5) scored 7 team points with wins over Pope of Ark City and Perez of Olathe South before falling to Landers of Bishop Carroll.

113 pounds: Garcia (11-5) earned 6 team points, defeating Decker of Newton by fall before losses to Smith of Maize and Fisher of Gardner Edgerton.

120 pounds: Burkes (10-8) contributed 4 team points with a win over Hurst of Andover Central before losing to Carter of Norton Community.

126 pounds: Prescott (3-7) went 0-2 at the tournament.

132 pounds: Magnall (9-9) scored 6.5 team points with victories over Parks of Hutchinson and Creason of De Soto before falling to Clydesdale of Norton Community.

138 pounds: Crane (12-9) added 5.5 team points, defeating Overbey of Leavenworth and Selle of Winfield before losing to Rojas of Valley Center.

144 pounds: K. Garcia (0-3) went 0-2 in his matches.

150 pounds: Bay. Boesker (3-7) went 0-2 at the tournament.

157 pounds: Car. Boesker (1-10) went 0-2 in competition.

165 pounds: Miller (10-11) went 0-2 at the event.

175 pounds: Harlin (1-9) went 0-2 in his matches.

190 pounds: Fritzemeier (4-10) scored 3 team points with a win over Holliday of Leavenworth before losses to Gilman of Bishop Carroll and Abrams of Salina South.

215 pounds: Hall (16-5) captured fifth place with wins over Martin of Ark City, Barwick of Seneca, Horton of Newton, and Tracy of Olathe West. His only losses came to Reves of Salina Central and Dibbini of Manhattan.

285 pounds: Leathers (16-6) scored 7 team points with victories over Sweat of Gardner Edgerton and Wiemers of Olathe West before falling to Young of Valley Center.
