McPherson Women Break Menopause Silence at Opera House Event
Local screening draws 120 attendees for health education and community discussion.
MCPHERSON, Kan. — About 120 women from McPherson and surrounding areas gathered at the McPherson Opera House on Saturday evening for "The M Factor Film Screening & Ladies Night," a community event designed to foster open conversations about menopause. The event, hosted by McPherson Center for Health and Visit McPherson, featured pre-screening activities with local vendors including food by Tammy Nestor, permanent jewelry by Bonded By BB, and health resources from S&S MedSpa of Marion, Young Living Oils, the McPherson Public Library, and other local businesses.
Following the film screening, a panel of local healthcare providers answered audience questions about menopause and women's health. The panel included Melisa Kieffer, PA-C; Dr. Holly Burt, MD; Dr. Sarah Buchanan, OBGYN; Dr. Bailee Norton, MD; Shawna Johnson, APRN; and Suzanne Fleming, MS, RDN, LD. Attendees praised the event for normalizing discussions around menopause, with many expressing relief at learning they weren't alone in their experiences. With "The M Factor 2" expected in March, participants are already requesting a second screening event, indicating strong community interest in continuing these health conversations.
