McPherson Volleyball Splits Pair of Three-Set Matches
Bullpups defeat Collegiate before falling to Wellington in closely contested contests

The McPherson High School volleyball team battled through two competitive three-set matches, splitting the contests with a comeback victory over Collegiate followed by a heartbreaking loss to Wellington. The Bullpups defeated Collegiate 2-1 (25-27, 25-18, 25-14) before falling to Wellington 1-2 (20-25, 28-26, 18-25) in matches that showcased both offensive firepower and resilience.
Against Collegiate, McPherson demonstrated character by overcoming a first-set loss to dominate the final two sets. The Bullpups found their rhythm after the opening-set defeat, controlling the tempo and executing effectively to secure the victory. However, the momentum didn't carry over to the Wellington match, where McPherson fought valiantly but couldn't close out the contest despite winning a marathon second set 28-26.
Junior Ava Romero led the offensive attack across both matches with 31 kills while contributing 16 digs and three aces. Brooke Doile provided consistent production with 17 kills and a team-high 25 digs, while Carmin Pavlovich added 16 kills and 14 digs. Setter Riley Whitfield orchestrated the offense with 65 assists, and Adelyn Barrow paced the serving attack with five aces.
The JV squad provided a bright spot for the program, sweeping both matches with convincing victories. The junior varsity defeated Wichita Collegiate 25-16, 25-8 and Wellington 25-19, 25-18, demonstrating the depth and development within the McPherson volleyball program.
