McPherson Volleyball Goes 4-1 at AVCTL Preseason Tournament
Bullpups claim four victories with lone loss coming against Emporia
The McPherson Bullpups volleyball team posted a strong 4-1 record at the AVCTL preseason tournament held in Newton, competing against Valley Center, Andover Central, Newton, Maize, and Emporia. The Bullpups defeated Valley Center (25-22, 25-20), Andover Central (25-20, 19-25, 25-23), Newton (25-12, 25-17), and Maize (25-19, 25-23) before falling to Emporia in a hard-fought three-set match (26-24, 20-25, 21-25). Ava Romero led the offensive attack with 54 kills while also contributing 43 digs and three blocks, showcasing her all-around impact. Brooke Doile added 34 kills and led the team with 52 digs, while Rylie Whitfield orchestrated the offense with 109 assists.
The Bullpups displayed balanced production throughout the tournament, with Elley Paulson contributing 26 kills and four blocks at the net. From the service line, Carmin Pavlovich paced the team with seven aces, while both Doile and Romero added five aces each. The preseason tournament provided valuable match experience against quality AVCTL competition, with the Bullpups showing resilience in three-set victories over Andover Central and a competitive loss to Emporia that went the distance. The team's performance demonstrates early-season chemistry as they prepare for regular season competition.
