McPherson Varsity Tennis Dominates Tournament Field
Bullpups sweep team title with near-perfect individual performances across all divisions

The McPherson varsity tennis team captured the team championship in convincing fashion, awaiting final point totals from the host school after a dominant performance against a competitive eight-team field. Competing against Campus, Hutchinson, Ark City, and four Wichita schools (Heights, South, East, and West), the Bullpups showcased their depth and talent across all divisions in unseasonably warm conditions reaching the high 80s.
McPherson's individual results were nearly flawless, with Maryn Sandbo (1st singles) and Erin Olson (2nd singles) both going undefeated at 3-0 to claim their respective divisions. The doubles teams were equally impressive, as Quinn Liebl and Avery Unruh captured the #1 doubles title with a perfect 3-0 record, while Dragon Rodriguez and Lleyton Kuhn dominated #2 doubles with their own 3-0 performance. The team's only blemish came in a second doubles division where Mayson Wiens and McKenna Paul finished second at 2-1, with their lone loss coming against McPherson teammates when another school was short on players. The Bullpups controlled most matches decisively, with their closest victory ending 8-3 and most wins coming by scores of 8-0 or 8-1. The team now faces a challenging stretch ahead, traveling to Buhler on Thursday before hosting both the Doug Gayer Classic and Tournament of Champions next week to test themselves against some of the state's top programs across multiple classifications.
