McPherson teen faces judge Wednesday in manslaughter case over fatal post-party shooting
Daniel T. Hawkinson, 18, is accused in the Jan. 31 death of Joshua Soden
MCPHERSON, Kan. — An 18-year-old McPherson man faces up to 20.5 years in prison as he appears in court Wednesday April 22 to answer for a fatal roadside shooting. McPherson County Attorney Jennifer Wyatt charged Daniel T. Hawkinson with voluntary manslaughter after 19-year-old Joshua Soden was shot and killed during a Jan. 31 altercation following a rural house party near Inman. During the preliminary hearing, a judge will determine whether prosecutors have enough evidence to try Hawkinson, who remains free on a $200,000 bond and could also face a $300,000 fine if ultimately convicted, according to court documents.
