McPherson Street Projects Advance Despite Weather Delays
Multiple road improvements continue across the city with completion targets set for 2026

MCPHERSON, KS — Rain hasn't stopped progress on McPherson's ambitious street improvement program, with four major projects advancing simultaneously across the city. The 1100 block of North Elm Street has seen significant headway with 250 feet of curb and gutter poured on the east side and intersections at Loomis and Hulse streets nearing completion. Meanwhile, Kansas Paving continues mill and overlay work on Maxwell Street from First to Northview Avenue, with parking restrictions remaining in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to facilitate construction. Both streets are scheduled for final overlay in fall 2026 after a season of compaction.
Additional improvements are underway on Myers Street, where contractor Vogts-Parga has completed the first of three blocks between First and Hulse streets, with curb, gutter, and driveway tie-ins finished and the second block expected to wrap up this week, weather permitting. In a separate enhancement project, Barkley Construction is set to begin Phase II of the Northview Avenue Sidewalk Project, installing a 10-foot sidewalk on the north side from Main Street east, while also filling the drainage ditch and adding a 5-foot sidewalk on the south side. These concurrent projects represent a significant investment in McPherson's infrastructure, with most roadwork following a similar pattern of base construction this year followed by final overlay in 2026.
