McPherson Sixth Grade Bullpups Fall to Undefeated Maize
Young Pups become first team to score on dominant Eagles in 49-13 road loss

The McPherson sixth grade Bullpups showed tremendous heart and determination Saturday, becoming the first team to put points on the board against previously undefeated Maize, despite falling 49-13 in their toughest test of the season.
The young Bullpups gave the dominant Maize squad their most challenging game to date, showing fight and determination against a team that had shut out every previous opponent. McPherson's 13 points marked a significant breakthrough against what has been an impenetrable Eagles defense.
Quarterback Isaac Reasoner led the offensive effort, connecting on two touchdown passes to Landon Dodge while finding receiver Kacen Kliewer for several additional completions. Reasoner's arm strength and accuracy kept the Bullpups competitive throughout the contest.
Hayden Hicks provided a strong ground presence, running hard and giving McPherson a balanced offensive attack that complemented the passing game. His physical running style helped control the tempo and keep drives alive.
Defensively, the Bullpups showed flashes of potential but struggled to contain Maize's talented running back, who found the end zone five times. Grady Rierson, Hayden Hicks, and Landon Dodge provided defensive highlights, consistently putting themselves in position to make plays.
Despite being outmatched by Maize's superior talent and depth, the Bullpups demonstrated heart and resilience that should serve them well moving forward. The ability to score against a previously impenetrable defense provides a foundation for future success.
McPherson will look to regroup and build on the positive elements of their performance when they travel to Hays next weekend, seeking to use this experience as motivation for continued improvement.
