McPherson school board sets interviews, public forums for superintendent finalists

MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson residents will soon have an opportunity to meet the finalists vying to lead the city's public schools, as the Board of Education has scheduled a series of April interviews to select a new superintendent.

The USD 418 school board is working with the Kansas Association of School Boards to guide the search following the March resignation of Superintendent Shiloh Vincent. Vincent is departing the district to serve as executive director of ESSDACK, a Hutchinson-based educational services organization.

Board President Lara Vanderhoof confirmed the district will hold four special meetings to conduct finalist interviews. According to district notices, the meetings are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on April 14, April 20 and April 24, with a final session set for 1 p.m. on April 25.

On the morning of each scheduled interview, the district will publicly announce the finalist slated for that day. Vanderhoof said community members are invited to interact with candidates during public meet-and-greet sessions at 4 p.m. at Central Office prior to the board's interviews, with the board's interviews to follow at the same location.

While the district has not disclosed the total number of applications received, the succession of meetings aligns with the board's timeline to name a new leader by the end of April. Vincent will formally conclude his service with the district on June 30.
