McPherson Public Library unveils dinosaur-themed summer programming
Kick-off party May 15 to feature live music, food trucks and activity bags
MCPHERSON, Kan. — Local families can dig into a prehistoric summer as the McPherson Public Library rolls out its dinosaur-themed "Unearth A Story" programming, beginning with a kick-off celebration from 2 to 6 p.m. May 15. The event, held at the library at 214 W. Marlin St., will feature live music by DJ Noah Dossett, "The Things That Go Show," food trucks and interactive crafts from community organizations. Attendees can register for the summer reading program inside the library during the party and pick up a complimentary activity bag to jump-start their paleontology-inspired educational goals. Cost and registration requirements for the summer reading program and associated events had not been confirmed at publication time.
Following the opening celebration, the library's schedule is packed with entertainment throughout June, organized by Lindsay Helms, the library's marketing and adult programming coordinator. Highlights include a Dinosaur Dimensions presentation at 6 p.m. June 1, Silent Disco Pop-Ups running June 5 through June 12, an early June 6 "Dino Dash" and a performance by children's entertainer Dino O'Dell at 6 p.m. June 11. Additional details and a complete calendar of upcoming summer events, including the latest details on all programming, is available at macpl.libcal.com.
