MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson County voters will get the chance to directly question local commission candidates during a nonpartisan forum from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at the American Legion, 401 N. Main St., five days before the Aug. 4 primary.

The event, hosted by the McPherson Area Chamber of Commerce, will feature District 1 Commissioner Keith Becker and challenger Stephen Gray, both Republicans vying in a primary contest, alongside District 2 Commissioner Tom Keuser, a Republican who drew no primary opponent but was invited along with everyone else on the ballot.

Candidates will answer written questions submitted by attendees upon arrival. Bypassing a traditional debate format, the forum will open with three-minute statements from each candidate, followed by one-minute responses to audience questions screened for duplication and appropriateness.
