Neil Frederick Logback

March 26, 1939 — June 27, 2025

Neil Frederick Logback of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on June 27, 2025, following a 2 year battle with cancer. He was the 3rd son of Leonard Adolf Logback and Alice Sophia Ericson Logback.

Neil was born in Mentor, Kansas on March 26, 1939. Most of his elementary school years were spent at Mt. Hope School, a one-room schoolhouse near Lindsborg. Neil would proudly state that most often, he would simultaneously be both at the top and bottom of his class. He graduated from Roxbury High School in 1957 and completed a technical machinist program in Chicago in 1959.

Neil was married to LuAnn Skach on January 8, 1966. They were married for 59 years. They lived in Wichita, rural Goessel, Salina and Overland Park, Kansas.

Until 1977, Neil worked as a machinist at several aircraft manufacturing plants in the Wichita area including Beechcraft, Boeing, and Bede Aircraft. His most notable project was precision machining titanium oxygen tanks for NASA’s Apollo space missions. He later worked for Sterling Drug/Sanofia in McPherson and GrainBelt Industries in Salina. However, his passion was motorcycles. He raced and repaired them, intermittently worked at Jim’s Import Cycles in Wichita, and took his family on long weekends of riding on dirt trails. Later he rode with the first ever chapter of the ROMEOs in Salina. He continued riding with various chapters until 2020.

Neil is survived by spouse LuAnn; children Laura Zajkowski (Tom), Larry Logback (Carrie) and Judy Logback; 7 Grandchildren, 1 Great-grandson; brother Ronald Logback many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by brother, Duane Logback.

His family enthusiastically invites friends, colleagues, and any interested ROMEO riders to stop in for Bierochs, cold drinks and dessert. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Salina Tech. Please include Neil Logback and MMT in the memo and select SATC Technical Scholarship.

A celebration of Neil’s life will occur on September 1, 2025, near Roxbury, Kansas between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., at the Mt. Hope School House which is located on the east side of the road between 2532-2580 18th Ave Lindsborg, Kansas (1 mile east of I-35 on Smoky Valley Road, then ½ mile South on 18th Ave).
