MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson middle school boys and girls track and field athletes competed at the Patriot League Meet on May 12, with multiple first-place finishes across both squads.

On the girls side, seventh-grader Reese Kramer won the 400-meter dash (1:04.58) and the 1,600-meter run (5:45.04), eighth-grader Noelle Schmidt took the 800-meter run (2:43.53), eighth-grader Myiah Crawford-Dingman won the 100-meter hurdles (18.67), eighth-grader Elles Pavlovich claimed the long jump (15 feet, 7.5 inches), Schmidt won the high jump (4-6), and the seventh-grade girls swept relay gold in the 4x100 (56.1), 4x200 (1:58.56) and 4x400 (4:36.72), while the eighth-grade girls distance medley relay also finished first (5:12.11).

On the boys side, eighth-grader Malachi Griggs won the 800-meter run (2:14.75), eighth-grader Xavier Hartinger took the 1,600-meter run (5:14.51), seventh-grader Jensen Hoover won both the 200-meter hurdles (30.6) and 100-meter hurdles (16.78), eighth-grader Cole Barkley won the high jump (5-6), eighth-grader Finn Gilkey won the shot put (39-8), and the eighth-grade boys 4x400 relay finished first (3:57.21).
