McPherson Middle School Tennis Sweeps Arkansas City

The McPherson Middle School girls tennis team delivered a flawless performance Monday, sweeping Arkansas City 18-0 in ideal tennis conditions. The Bullpups won all 12 singles matches and six doubles contests convincingly against the league opponent, showcasing the depth and development of the program as they prepare for the upcoming league tournament in early October.

Individual standouts included Gwen Prieb, who displayed smart tactical tennis by moving opponents around the court before capitalizing on openings, and Hattie Krug, who dominated with effective serves and powerful forehands. Lauren Southern came away with a strong singles victory, demonstrating remarkable improvement over the past year through persistent effort and court coverage. In doubles action, seventh-graders Audrey Pflughoeft and Sloan Shober continued their impressive partnership, combining Pflughoeft's net reach with Shober's baseline persistence, while Charley Duerksen and Addie Schneider overcame an early 0-2 deficit to finish strong with excellent net play and court positioning.
