McPherson Approves New Regulations for Mobile Food Vendors
MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson City Commission has adopted a new ordinance establishing comprehensive regulations for mobile food vendors operating within city limits. Adopted on Dec. 30, Ordinance No. 3456 requires food truck operators to obtain an annual city license, pass fire department inspections and maintain liability insurance of at least $500,000. The new code, which takes effect Jan. 1, 2026, limits operating hours to between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. and prohibits vendors from setting up within 500 feet of other city-approved events or blocking public rights-of-way. Violations of the new measure carry fines ranging from $200 to $750.
Myers Street project completed under budget
MCPHERSON, Kan. - The Myers Street reconstruction project is officially complete and finished significantly under budget. The commission approved a change order with Alfred Benesch & Company for a contract deduction of $80,691.50. Design fees came in lower than estimated, allowing the city to recoup those funds.
Holiday trolley numbers show record success
MCPHERSON, Kan. - The McPherson Convention and Visitors Bureau reported that the Holiday Light Trolley carried more than 1,150 riders during the recent festive season. The trolley operated for 28 out of 31 nights in December, taking residents through Lakeside Park and various neighborhoods. Demand was high enough to have sold out a second month of tours if time allowed. Tickets for the 2026 season will go on sale Nov. 2.
Christmas tree recycling program underway
MCPHERSON, Kan. - The city has begun its annual Christmas tree recycling program at the McPherson Water Park. Residents can drop off real Christmas trees at the southeast corner of the park's north side until Jan. 15. The Park Department will chip the trees into mulch, which will then be available for residents to pick up for personal use.
