McPherson Launches "Great Light Fight" Holiday Lights Contest
First-ever citywide competition challenges residents to "Glow BIG or Go Home"
The City of McPherson is launching its first-ever Holiday Lights Contest, dubbed "The Great Light Fight," inviting residents to showcase their festive displays and compete for recognition in three categories. Homeowners have until November 30 to register their properties for the competition, which will feature community voting and custom yard signs for winners. The contest aims to celebrate holiday spirit while providing families with a fun activity to enjoy throughout the season.
Registration is open through November 30 at https://www.mcpcity.com/FormCenter/Public-LandsFacilities-Department-5/McPherson-Great-Light-Fight-80 or by calling the parks office at 620-245-2535. Once registration closes, city staff will post a list of all participating homes on Facebook and the city website along with a voting link. Community members will have from December 1-16 to tour the decorated houses and cast their votes in three categories: WOW Factor Display, Brightest Display, and Best Overall Display.
Winners will be announced on Facebook on December 20, with each winner receiving a custom yard sign to display their achievement. The contest offers an opportunity for residents who take pride in their holiday decorations to share their displays with the community, while also providing families with a festive activity to enjoy together.
