McPherson JV Volleyball Claims Silver Bracket Title at Andover Tournament
Strong 4-1 Record Includes Comeback Victory Over Derby in Three-Set Thriller
McPherson High School's JV volleyball team captured the Silver Bracket championship at the Andover JV tournament, posting an impressive 4-1 record across five matches. The Bullpups suffered their lone setback in the opening match against Hesston, falling in three sets (17-25, 25-14, 8-15) after winning the first set before dropping the final two. However, McPherson responded with four consecutive victories to claim the Silver Bracket title, including dominant straight-set wins over El Dorado (25-11, 25-10), host Andover (25-19, 25-20), and Valley Center (25-16, 25-19).
The tournament's most exciting match came in the final against Derby, where McPherson demonstrated remarkable resilience by rallying from a first-set loss to win in three sets (21-25, 25-12, 15-8). After dropping the opening set, the Bullpups dominated the second set and maintained their momentum through a decisive third-set victory to secure the bracket championship. The strong tournament performance showcased the depth and character of the JV program, as the team bounced back from their early loss to Hesston with increasingly confident play throughout the day.
